Abortion

Abortion is the removal of a fetus which ends the pregnancy of female. Abortion is a growing practice that is very unethical. Aborting a living fetus is very wrong and it is disturbing how many people do it. Abortion is done when an accidental pregnancy occurs. This is usually due to irresponsible methods of sexual intercourse. Just because people are irresponsible does not mean you have to kill the life they created. There are alternatives to abortion that do not involve killing potential life. A baby can be put up for adoption and family that unfortunately cannot have a baby for whatever reason can adopt the unwanted baby. Many families are in need of a child and if adoption was illegal they would be receiving more opportunity to adopt. It is also very painful to women physically and emotionally knowing that you are destroying life. Abortion is unethical and it would be very wise to illegalize it. It would be more beneficial to society.

The Welfare System

Welfare is financial aid provided to those who live in poverty. Welfare is funded by the tax payers and is distributed by the government. Welfare is supposedly a good system that provides temporary relief to those in need. It gives those who are unfortunate a place to live and money. This system may seem benevolent however, insufficient and should be removed or at least have stricter regulations. Welfare was initially designed as temporary relief but now people have started to take advantage of it and their only source of income has become welfare. Welfare has become a system where hard working middle class citizens are supporting irresponsible poor people who do not get jobs. There are cases within the lower class of the community where welfare is necessary but the fast majority of the lower class are living off welfare and it is not being used how it was designed. Many immigrants have come to Canada without even knowing the language. Yet they seem to find jobs and live their lives without welfare. It is hard to believe that the amount of people on welfare cannot get jobs. Many jobs only require a high school diploma and these jobs will make it possible for a person to live a life without welfare. However, most people live off welfare and do not get jobs. Welfare encourages people not to work because they can get a cheap place to live and free money. It is not fair that hard working people that worked hard all through school and all through their careers have to support drug addicts, criminals and prostitutes. There is no problem with people living good lives to help out the people that are good people that have lost their jobs and need the money. But supporting families that live in poverty that are affiliated with gangs and drugs just is not fair. These people can finish high school and get jobs but they chose not to or they get addicted to drugs and they most likely become poor. It is very hard for most people to understand why they are supporting these people when they don’t want to be. The government needs to terminate welfare and produce a new system of distributing money to those that truly deserve the help. Or the current welfare system needs to be strongly regulated and it needs to be made sure that people who truly deserve the money are getting it so they can get back on their feet. Welfare is supposed to be temporary not permanent. The current welfare system hurts economy in the long run and has only been creating debt.

Caged Pets

Pets have become very popular amongst humans. Animals that once were wild such as cats and dogs have been domesticated as loyal companions for humans. This is beneficial for both species assuming the master is caring for the pet and it is a becoming thing to do. However, people have also attempted to keep other animals as pets that are not suited for a domesticated life. Only certain animals are able to live amongst humans and accept being domesticated. The rest of the animals do not appreciate being taken in as pets. Animals such as gerbils, snakes, rats and guinea pigs were meant to be in the wild running freely. When these animals are used for unnecessary purposes such as entertaining humans as pets, their freedom is stolen from them. Humans put them in cramped cages limiting their exercise to a running device designed for small rodents. This is the equivalent of an alien coming to our planet and trapping you in a prison cell with a water bottle, a treadmill and bucket of rice just for its entertainment. Although your needs of survival are being met you have no freedom and you would eventually develop psychological problems. Nobody would enjoy being put in that scenario for their life yet they are doing it to animals. People say that the animals like being pets but this is completely false. If you encounter a small rodent in the wild it will flee from you because it would be terrified of you. Also, if it liked being a pet so much it wouldn’t make desperate attempts to escape every opportunity it got. Pet dogs do not run desperately away from their masters whenever the door is open unlike the pet rodents. These pets are being caged their whole lives against their will. People need to stop keeping them as pets because it is very devastating for them. How would you like it if you had to live your life in a cage and never experience the beautiful world that God created for you.

How Middle Easterners are Portrayed in North America

Recently in the media, a popular topic has been the death of Osama Bin Laden. Osama Bin Laden was a middle easterner that is believed to be the founder of a terrorist organization called al-Qaeda. This organization is believed to be behind multiple attacks against civilians and military targets including the 911 tragedy. After this tragedy Osama Bin Laden had become one of the most feared people in history, and so did every other middle easterner. Throughout North America people have been terrified of getting on planes and subways because they are under the impression that every single Middle Eastern person is a terrorist. Personally, I have had the misfortune of going through elementary school during the 911 phase. A lot of my good Middle Eastern friends were being accused of terrorism because of their origin of birth. It was very disturbing to watch my friends being bullied because of the way the media has portrayed their race. Schools were not the only place where this discrimination had been occurring. At an airport my friend claimed that his family and he had been taken aside for a “random” screening. I do not know anyone my whole entire family that has been asked for a random screening. I believe that my friend was asked for a screening because of his nationality. The media has done a very good job over the years of depicting middle easterners as terrorists. In most young North American’s eyes every person dressed in Middle Eastern attire is a terrorist however, it is quite the opposite. My friends that have family in these Middle Eastern countries seem to have adverse assessments on this topic. The citizens of the Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq are involved with a war against the United States therefore it would only make sense for the citizens actually experiencing the war first hand to be more educated on the topic. They believe that the real terrorists are the Americans, because they are in their country fighting an illegal war removing natural resources from their land. Although American’s have come up with multiple excuses as to why they are there and some of them are valid, however, I still believe that they should mind their own business and leave Iraq. I do not believe westerners are in any position to point fingers at terrorists because the action performed by their own countries is borderline terrorism. Middle Easterners should not be labelled as terrorists because of one terrorist group that is of Middle Eastern origin that has attacked the United States. That is just like saying all white people are racist because of the KKK. Both al-Qaeda and the KKK are an example of extremists in both cultures and they should not reflect what the other members of those cultures act like.

Animal Cruelty

I think that the world consists of many unstable people. Many of these unstable people are cruel to animals. Animals are very peaceful creatures and they do not deserve to be abused by people. However, every year a large percentage of people are abusing animals and I think that this is very disturbing. To abuse an animal I think that you have to be an unstable person. Most animals that have been domesticated and are pets are defenceless. People that pick on defenceless animals are very pathetic people. People that take their stress out or are entertained by the suffering of an innocent animal have very serious problems. If someone is abusing an animal and enjoying it, who is to say they will not start doing this to humans. For someone to pick on a defenceless an because their life sucks is very disturbing. The government needs to increase the punishment for animal abuse because it is more serious than people think. One example of someone who abuses animals is a football player named Michael Vick. This man is supposed to be a role model for tennagers and he is involved with dog fighting. Michael Vick did get punished for this however, it was not nearly as strict as it should have been. Michael Vick. He is currently back in the NFL and is once again inspiring children. This makes me sick to my stomach. Michael Vick is clearly a disturbed person and he should still be in jail rather than inspiring small children and making millions of dollars. Animal Cruelty is pathetic and it can lead to more serious psychological issues with people. People who abuse animals need to be punished very strictly and I personaly do not think they are fit for society.
